We will pick you up from your hotel at 5:00 AM to embark on our adventure. As we journey toward the Sacred Valley, witness Cusco coming to life in the early hours. After about an hour, we’ll pause in Calca at a local market to gather snacks, fruits, and water. Two hours later, we arrive at the Lares hot springs for breakfast. Relish a soak in the warm pools, believed to have healing benefits for bones, muscles, and stress relief.
Following this, we meet our trekking team at Punta Carretera (3,800 m / 12,467 ft). Our porters will transport your bags on horses. Delight in breathtaking vistas along the Lares trail, including the Pacchayocc waterfall. After about a two-hour trek, we reach a picturesque lake area for lunch. Then, we ascend to Willkikasa Pass (4,400 m / 14,435 ft), the highest point of the day. Be mindful of altitude sickness. Subsequently, we descend for 1.5 hours to the Quiswarani campsite. Take the opportunity to explore the town and interact with the locals. You may visit a school where students speak Quechua and bring toys or supplies for them. We’ll zigzag upwards for 3-4 hours, unveiling astounding landscapes, including Lake Palcoyo and the magnificent Qanchispaccha waterfall. If fatigue or discomfort arise, fear not; an emergency horse is at your service.
Upon reaching the Pachacútec Pass, you’ll find yourself above the clouds, surrounded by sweeping 360-degree views of the splendid Pitusiray and Qolqe Cruz mountains—perfect for capturing unforgettable photos! DAY 3: Cancha Cancha – Huaran – Salt Mines – Ollantaytambo
Our trekking team will start your day with a warm drink. Today, we’ll take a four-hour walk downhill on a beautiful path where you’ll see llamas and alpacas. You’ll pass fields of potatoes and beans, learning about Andean farming. As we move into the Sacred Valley, you’ll notice different climates and find crops like corn, quinoa, kiwi, and avocados. The Sacred Valley holds rich history and culture with ties to the Inca.
In Huarán (2,920 m / 9,580 ft), you’ll say goodbye to your trekking team and enjoy a tasty lunch. We’ll then drive to the Maras salt mines (3,000 m / 9,842 ft), where salty water runs over the mountain, forming small pools that have been used since before the Incas. Local families own these pools, making pink salt known for healing properties. You can buy some salt at a nearby shop. After this, we’ll drive 45 minutes to Ollantaytambo (2,792 m / 9,160 ft), a beautiful town in the Andes. Here, you’ll visit the Sun Temple with big, carved stones. Spend a relaxing night in Ollantaytambo to get ready for tomorrow.

After breakfast, we’ll head to the train station for any last-minute shopping. At dawn, we board the train alongside the Urubamba River to Km 104 (2,100 m / 6,889 ft) to start our hike. We will cross a bridge to reach the Ministry of Culture’s checkpoint; remember to bring your passport for entry onto the Inca Trail. A short 15-minute walk brings us to the Chachabamba and Choquesuysuy archaeological sites, showcasing ancient architecture. Our 4-hour hike uphill features beautiful waterfalls and orchids.
We arrive at Wiñaywayna (2,650 m / 8,694 ft), an impressive site displaying Inca skills. Enjoy a guided tour of over 20 structures, followed by a box lunch. Reenergized, we embark on a 2-hour hike to Inti Punku, or the Sun Gate (2,720 m / 8,923 ft), offering a breathtaking view of Machu Picchu. After soaking in this remarkable site, we descend to Machu Picchu (2,430 m / 7,972 ft) at sunset, when it’s peaceful. Transportation

Duffel Bag Provision
At your briefing, you’ll receive a sturdy canvas case or duffel bag. Sized at 66 cm by 36 cm, with a 5 kg capacity, these bags will accommodate your sleeping bag, mat, clothing, and personal items, ensuring your trek is comfortable.
Final Payment in Cusco
To ensure a smooth start to your trek, please complete your trek balance by 7:30 p.m. two days before departure. For example, if departing on Wednesday, settle the balance by Monday. Payment is accepted in cash (US dollars or Peruvian currency), easily obtainable from ATMs along Avenida Sol. Online payments are an option with an 8% service fee for credit cards or PayPal. Note that we do not accept checks.
Luggage Storage
